The year when the renowed singer, educator and Sangitha Kalanidhi Dr.Sowmya Srinivasan (Vice Chancellor of TamilNadu’s Music and Arts university, Chennai), led our 7th TUB event, accompanied by Embar Kannan on the Violin and Neyveli Narayanan on the mridangam. Their musical chemistry and expertise on stage surpassed anything our audience had seen till date.
It was also the first social outing as Chief guest of the recently instated Ambassador of India to Belgium and Luxembourg and the Ambassador to the European Union, His Excellency Mr. Saurabh Kumar and his wife Mrs. Smriti Srivastav who interacted with the artists and audience. They were happy to note IndiRaga’s pioneering role in the burgeoning Indian classical music and dance scene in Belgium.
Later in the year, we co-hosted the project “RagaVarshini” with Amritavarshini school of Music, headed by Dr. Uma Ramakrishnan who has been IndiRaga’s ardent supporter and collaborator since inception. The project brought the supremely talented vocalist Vishnudev to Brussels, accompanied by Manarkovil Balaji on the mridangam (who earlier in the afternoon held a lecture demonstration) and Karthick on the violin.
